In the 4th and final leg of the Harrock Hill fell race series Red Rose had 4 runners up for the challenge. In the biggest field of the year, with 198 finishers, there was a large contingent of Chorley Harriers running together to show their respect and pay tribute to blind runner Mike Ogle who passed away the previous weekend. For Red Rose Ken Addison finished in 38:17 for 28th place and 1st V55,Peter Bolton was 103rd in 45:29, Paula Plowman came home in 138th in 49:38 and Emma Cowie-Shaw finished in 163 with a time of 59:32.
In the series Red Rose again had four runners who completed 3 or 4 races to qualify for overall honours. Ken Addison 14th and 1st V55, John Shepherd 20th 3rd V45, Peter Bolton 54th 10th V50 and Paula Plowman 66th 2nd Lady V45.
At the Hilton 10k on Saturday 3 September, Jose Shaw ran his first race as a Red Rose Road Runner and posted a promising 42:41 for 27th place. A head wind in the faces of the runners for three miles made it difficult. Simon Houghton ran 46:15 and Julie Coupe just failed to break the 50 minute barrier with 50:17. Viv Sherry ran 54:01 and Arthur Green comfortably finished under the hour with 58:23.
