At the Lytham Windmill 10K a small group of Red Rose Road Runners turned out amongst the 405 strong field. First home for the club was Simon Houghton who recorded a time of 43.04 which compares well with his other times this season. Claire Bunce continues to improve at a pace with a time of 45.50 which must set her up for a sub 45 min 10k in the near future. New members filled the remaining places with encouraging performances from all three athletes who can now build on this early success. Tony Smith got close to 50 minutes in 50.15, Michael Newell came under 55 minutes in 54.28 and Adela Nuttall broke the hour in 59.28.
The club’s training nights are becoming increasingly popular with great turn outs at both Fulwood Leisure Centre at 6.30pm on Tuesdays and at Poachers Bamber Bridge at 7.00pm on Thursday evenings. New members are arriving every week and reporting on the warm and friendly welcome they receive. See Red Rose Facebook page.
