At the 30th annual Preston Harriers 10mile race, a field of nearly 400 took part in the 2 lap course starting and finishing at Hutton Grammar School.

By far the best performance for Red Rose was Ken Addison’s 62.42 maintaining great form throughout the race and placing second Vet55.

John Shepherd finished in a creditable 65.45 carrying an injury, sustained in training this week and Philip Butler ran well in a time of 67.56. Cliff Utting ran 71.40 with an evenly paced race whilst first Red Rose lady home was once again Debbie Kirkman in 74.28. Claire Bunce was a few minutes behind in 77.15 .

Stuart Cann turned in another solid performance finishing in 78.16.

Carol Douglass was the club’s only prize winner taking the Vet 65 prize in 81.02 followed closely by Paula Plowman 81.23. Good steady runs  from Caroline Devaney in 87.39 and Emma Cowie Shaw in 90.26 completed the ladies contribution whilst Lee Brown’s excellent effort saw him complete the course in 96.38 with Bernard Elkington finishing in 97.33.
