LEP Race Reports for 5th November 2011

At the Mid Lancs Cross Country held at Townley Park Burnley, Red Rose had an excellent turnout of 11 ladies and 17 men. Clare Bunce showed great promise with her first run coming 39th in 28.38 narrowly beating a determined Alison John-Haslam by 15 seconds. Glenda Dobie completed the Red Rose ‘A’team in a time of 30.55.

Nikki Roberts returned to Red Rose colours finishing well in 31.27 with Joan Goldthorpe and Ann Wallworth completing a ‘B’ team with times of 32.00 and 32.15.

Other runners enjoying their first season of cross country were led home by Viv Sherry who ran 32.58 followed by Emma Cowie Shaw 36.16, Debbie Wood 38.30, Sue Harrison 39.02 and Wendy Ward 40.07.

Ken Addison led the men home with a flowing performance finishing in 40.13 nearly a minute ahead of his nearest team mate, John Shepherd, who worked his way through the field to finish in 41.10. Joe Swarbrick was followed in by new runner Stuart Roberts who ran an encouraging 41.50. Phil Quibell completed the Vet 50 ‘A’ team of three in a time of 44.42 aiding their 5th team position. Phil Butler ran 43.30 and Fred Lynch returned from injury to start his season with 44.58. A steady stream of Red Rose men followed, ensuring a solid start to the season with full teams in the Vet 40 and 50 categories.
