Leyland Cross Country – Joint Call For Marshals

Leyland Cross Country – Joint Call For Marshals

The last race of the Mid-Lancs season (2011/12) is at Worden Park, Leyland (this is the same venue as the Red Rose Runners road inter-club in September). Preston Harriers and Red Rose Road Runners are co-hosting this event.

Please can you help?

The races are around the inside perimeter of the park, avoiding the football pitches and some go through the woods past Worden Hall and cross a stream twice (senior races only).

The races start (u11 girls) at 12.30pm to the last at 2.30pm senior mens race – marshal briefing and allotment of positions will be 12pm prompt from the Preston Harriers club tent.

If you can help, you will need boots or Wellingtons as the park can be wet – those who marshal in the woods will have to cross the stream and will need Wellington boots!

We will need help to set out the course markers and tape from 8am on the morning of the race; there are fourteen marshal points to cover (and most will need 2/3 people and more through the wood).

There is car parking to manage (keeping competitors off Worden Park itself, apart from club tent drop-off and officials and other park users) and finish funnel management.

Race parking is at Runshaw College on Langdale Road.

After the final race, and competitors are in, (about 3.35pm) all the posts, markers and tape will have to be brought in.

If you can help, please let us know ASAP.
