Seven Red Rose Runners competed in the Ultrafit St. Annes 10 mile road race on Sunday 18th March in deceptive conditions, bright sunshine but with a cool sea breeze which proved a battle on the return 5 miles of this out and back course along the sea front.
In the field of 320 finishers 1st home for Red Rose in 29th place with a time of 64.32 was Ken Addison winning 2nd V55 prize.
Next came Richard Oakley in 68.01, 51st closely followed by Jose Pinon Shaw,68.15 52nd , who continues to improve with more racing under his belt.
The sole lady club representative was next, Debbie Kirkman who found the back 5 miles a bit tough after running a good pace to the turn she finished in 134th with 78.06.
Cliff Utting, returning from injury finished in 81.11 giving him 160th , new recruit Alan Kelly did well to finish in 1:46:14 in 299th place.
Finally we had our V75 runner Bernard Elkington in 304th place in a time of 1.48.03. Bernard was our second prize winner on the day being 2nd V75.
