Several new Red Rose Road Runners went to Blackpool for the day. Lee Bennett and Sarah Walton took on the marathon distance and both acquitted themselves excellently. Lee Bennett came close to the four hour mark with 4:06:19 whilst Sarah Walton, who appears to increase her racing distance weekly ran a creditable 5:11:26. In the half marathon Lee Brown ran 1:56:00 continuing to make giant strides in bringing his times down. Tom McNicholas gained more race experience finishing in 2:13:40.
Two PB’s were achieved at the 5K event in Blackpool with John Johnson very happy taking 90 seconds off his previous best to finish in 23.19 and Colin Manning bettering his time with 29.06.
At the testing Roddlesworth Roller Ken Addison faced strong opposition in the Vet 55 category, coming second in a time of 37.58. The performance of the day must have been Claire Bunce with a cracking time of 40.51 which will surely convert to a great 10K time on the roads very soon. Debbie Kirkman was in form with a 45.21 beating her time from last year whilst Cliff Utting began his return with a time of 48.00. Paula Plowman ran well to take the V45 prize in 48.27. Bernard Elkington cracked the hour with 59.07 and Adela Nuttall’s brave effort on this difficult course saw her finish in 61.33.
