Good Turn Out at Blackpool Inter Club

At the first Inter Club event of the season at Blackpool, Red Rose turned out in good numbers. John Shepherd’s marathon training rewarded him with an excellent time and position over the four mile course with a time of 22.53 in 21st place. Joe Swarbrick was pleased to break 24 minutes in 23.32 with Ken Addison finishing third for the club in 24.06. A close race developed between Shane Cliffe and Ben Donoghue  with times of 24.36 and 24.48. Claire Bunce led the ladies home in a time of 25.07 with Phil Butler following her in a second later. Steve Whitney made a great contribution  with a time of 25.27 before Barry Wheeler and Stuart Cann battled it out with times of 26.13 and 26.25.  Debbie Kirkman held off strong competition from Geoff Haworth and Dave Hooton finishing in 27.35.

At the presentation of awards for 2011, Red Rose celebrated their great success picking up the team prize for the Fell Series and several individual prizes in the Vet categories.
