At the Wray Scarecrow 10K Joe Swarbrick and Ken Addison vied for position on the hilly course before Swarbrick finished ahead with the smallest of gaps finishing in 39.21 and 39.36 for 7th and 9th position. Paula Plowman experienced this tough course with the deceptively innocent name in a good time of 51.11 whilst Yvonne Johnson finished strongly in 53.39 ahead of husband Roger who finished in a satisfying time of 55.21. Vet 75 Bernard Elkington made light work of the series of hills in a time of 57.58.
At the Fleetwood 10 mile, runners battled against the elements on the worst day for weeks. Claire Bunce, for the second time in a fortnight was first lady home in a great time of 68.42. Red Rose runners Alan Kelly and Jaquie Eastwood took on the tough 10 mile distance with creditable times of 1.40.33 and 1.41.39.
