An excellent run from Jose Pinon Shaw at the Windmill Half marathon saw him in 10th place and 2nd V40 in a time of 1.26.22. Encouraging times were also posted by Phil Darwen and David Williams in 1.36.57 and 1.38.05. Julie Coupe and Caroline Devaney also competed and both comfortably beat the 2 hour mark. Julie finishing in 1.53.52 and Caroline in 1.59.03. Alan Kelly’s determined efforts gave him a time of 2.27.54.
Three Red Rose runners took part in the St Anne’s 5K with a great run from Jo Duffy finishing strongly in 22.00, Peter Gibson ran 22.25 with George Fletcher running 25.39.
John Shepherd had a busy week with a flurry of top 10 spots. At Endmoor 10k 38.23 was good enough for 8th place, at the Calder Vale Supper he was 6th in 22.45 and 37.10 at Chernobyl 10k gave him 6th place.
Also at Chernobyl, Dave Maudsley had a good run in windy conditions finishing in 43.41. Alan Raby and Debbie Bevitt ran well for times of 53.40 and 56.10. Vet 75 Bernard Elkington maintained his great consistency finishing in 57.22.
At the Parkrun 5k, new PB’s were set by Joe Swarbrick (18.42) Sally Cape (27.35) and Louise Gavell (28.51).
A great turn out of 18 runners at the Bull Hill Fell Race saw some excellent performances. Shane Cliffe lead the team home in 47.30, Barry Wheeler produced another strong run on the fells in a time of 48.23 and Ken Addison broke 50 minutes in 49.43. Great runs from new member Andrew Prendergast and Ben Donoghue were rewarded with finishing times of 50.34 and 51.22. Second lady home Claire Bunce ran most of the race with the sole of her shoe missing, left at the first stile, still finished in 51.28.

Two intrepid team members went on to complete the 3 Day Challenge. Paula Plowman and Barry Wheeler took on the Giant Seat cross country with Barry finishing in 51.48 and Paula finishing as F45 winner in 52.07. The 5 mile Trail Race saw Barry finish in 39.03 to finish 24th in the overall challenge and Paula’s 42.50 meant she won the overall F45 prize by a margin of 16 minutes.
