The ever popular Green Drive 5 which attracted 258 runners was the main local race this weekend which included the Lancashire Championship. With marathon preparations on the minds of many runners at this time only a handful of Red Rose runners ran the race. John Shepherd (30.20) managed 2nd V45 in spite of an injury worry in the last mile. Ken Addison took the gold medal place in the V55 class in a time of 30.45. Dave Maudsley continued his improvement with 32.59 to be 4th out of 21 in the V45’s. Adela Nuttall raced the 5 mile distance for the first time and was 5th out of 11 in the FV50 category in a time of 44.25. Karen Clark crossed the line 6 seconds ahead of Chris Clark in a time of 47.10 with Bernard Elkington squeezed between them. Long serving member Roy Lowe finished the race in 76 minutes.
In the Accrington 10K Andrew Prendegast had a great run to come 13th in 39.05 with Mike Hall taking first V45 with a time of 40.54.
Joe Swarbrick posted a PB at the Preston Parkrun coming 5th in 18.35. Good luck to all the Red Rose Runners taking part in the Preston Guild marathon and half marathon this weekend.
