For the final club Grand Prix race of the year, Red Rose Runners supported the Festive ‘Turkey Trot’ at Hurst Green with 15 runners in a field of 145, with many donning fancy dress. Phil Butler held off a challenge from a Santa clad Ben Donoghue to finish in 36.44 just seven seconds ahead. The reliable Stuart Cann put in a strong run to finish under 40 minutes in 39.11 despite is Santa trousers falling apart mid race. An injury hit Barry Wheeler ran 40.20 to secure the Grand Prix title and was followed by John Hyde in 42.17. Paula Plowman led the ladies home in 44.38 followed by Anne Wallworth in 47.31 to take the FV55 prize. Runners from the club hailed this race as a great experience and look forward to persuading more of their friends to enjoy its delights next year. Sal Cape was very enthusiastic about the event and finished in 48.50. Gavin Beetham ran 50.04 in front of George Fletcher who took the MV65 prize in a time of 50.49. Emma Cowie Shaw was placed third in her age group with a time of 52.21 with Karen and Chris Clark next in 53.26 and 53.28. Allan Howard and James Robinson finished within a few seconds of each other in 53.57 and 54.01.
