Charity Runners Sping 2013

The following club members are running marathons for charity in the comming months. If you would like to be added to the list, let us know.

St Catherines Hospice

Emma Cowie-Shaw

As most of you probably already know by now, I am running the London Marathon on 21st April, and thought it seemed appropriate of all the running events I take part in, to run the marathon for charity.

I have chosen to fundraise for St Catherine’s Hospice.

Please spare a few minutes to have a nosy at my page.  By all means, don’t feel obliged to sponsor me, but any donations are very much appreciated  – and will help motivate me to complete what now is the hardest part of my training plan coming up over the next few weeks!  Plus, knowing I have people’s support will help me get round on the day! – it is for a good cause.

Chris and Karen Clark

Chris is running the London Marathon for a the charity ‘Get Kids Going!’ and as I got a ballot place I am helping him raise the money for the charity.

‘Get Kids Going!’ is a wonderful charity that gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to participate in sports. It inspires British disabled youngsters to compete in sporting events, from start to Paralympic levels, by giving ‘sports grants’ to help with their training, transport and competition fees etc. With your help many can become world record holders and Paralympic champions and together we can turn their dreams into reality and help make them into sporting heroes!

You can help us reach our target of £2000 by making a donation by either visiting our entering Karen Clark in the ‘sponsor your friend’ box on the virginmoneygiving.com page then choose Karen-n-Chris’s page or by texting cckc53 ( then the amount you wish to donate) to 70070.  Thank you.

Mark Billington

Running Blackpool Marathon. I have chosen Derian House as my charity which provides care to terminally ill children as well as support and comfort for their families, it’s locally based in Astley Village, Chorley, Lancashire, I can’t think of anything worse than the heartache of knowing your child is terminally ill, I want to do whatever I can to help this fantastic cause.

Barry Wheeler

It seems rude to run the London Marathon without a charity, so as my granddad is a sufferer, Alzheimers is the most suitable choice.

And a bit later in the year:

Luke Bosman

I’m going to be running the Preston 10 Miler this year in aid of Mind, the mental health charity as I and several members of my family have experienced problems with depression and bipolar disorder. I’m not asking for sponsorship but instead am asking people to enter an online sweepstake to guess my finishing time: http://login.guess2give.com/event/luke_bosman/1429

It costs £3 to enter and £2.50 from each entry goes to Mind. The rest goes to the prize fund.
