A Windy Weekend for Racers

The Annual Good Friday 10 miler at Calder Vale  attracted a good field of 187 with 8 Red Rose Runners taking part. The hilly course combined with cold cross winds were not conducive to PB performances. Nevertheless Doug Bryden maintained a 7 minute mile pace finishing in 71.26 to be 46th home. Paul Woan came 75th in 77.06. Tony Thorley ran 80.34 and Jamie Jardine got round in 84.16.

Julie Thorley and John Hyde combined to finish together in 88.59. George Fletcher and James Robinson teamed up to meet the challenge with times of 96.46 and 97.03.

At Preston Parkrun 5K, PB’s were recorded by Anneke Crosby in 25.44  Joan Gouldthorpe  in 26.06 and non member but great Red Rose supporter Gemma Swarbrick set her latest PB with an impressive 23.28. Shane Cliffe and Sallly Cape maintained their strong leads at the top of the male and female points boards.

40 club members have now entered at least one Parkrun since it began in May 2012.
