Red Rose Junior member Joe Donoghue ran another 5K PB at Preston Parkrun of 20.42, a time which has contributed to him celebrating being the ‘Run Britain’ most improved runner of the month. Other PB.s were achieved by John Allen 20.02, Ian Wharton 22.31 and Julie Palmer 26.50.
Several small field races took place around the region and Red Rose were there to support them. At the Fleetwood 10k, in form Debbie Kirkman was the first lady home in a great time of 43.24. Also in the same race Simon Houghton ran 44.53 with Cliff Utting finishing strongly in 44.57 to take the M60 prize. At the ‘Run the Lanes’ 10 mile a less familiar race distance, Phil Darwen ran 69.14, Jill Jefferson managed 74.15 just ahead of Mark Billington in 74.22. Steve Gore crossed the line in 74.53 and Janine Needham finished in 76.33.
46 runners took part in the Longridge Lions 7 mile race over the popular tough course. Richard Oakley ran 50.45 to be first in the M55 category. Doug Bryden ran well for 52.08 followed by Jamie Jardine in 52.44. Suzanne Bell ran an excellent 53.54 with F65, Carol Douglass breaking the hour for 59.44. Andrew Baxendale completed the club line up in 63.31.
At the Jane Tomlinson Pennine 10k in the Burnley area there was a great atmosphere. The tough first half was followed by an easier second half. Keith Burrow represented Red Rose with a time of 53.43.
