Impressive Week for Donoghue

Impressive Week for Donoghue

195 runners took part in the latest Inter Club race hosted by Wesham Runners. A fantastic turnout of 37 Red Rose Runners ensured some excellent results on the night in spite of a few regular members not making the start line.

Without doubt the performance of the night came from Ben Donoghue who forced his way into a top ten position, being fifth overall in a brilliant time of 25.54 for the 4.5 mile course. Ken Addison ran a 6.15min/mile pace to finish in 28.12 for 24th place. Steve Whitney continued his consistent run of performances with a time of 28.47 whilst Stuart Cann ‘ducked under’ the 30 minute barrier in a time of 29.43. Other good performances from Anthony Murphy, Joe Donoghue, Shane Cliffe, Mike Hall, Andrew Stell and Fred Lynch meant that we claimed 3rd team in the overall team race.

Third place was also achieved by the Vets team and the Vet 50 team. A below strength ladies team managed 5th place and the V60 team claimed 4th place.

Seven runners joined the Lancaster 10k. Ben Donoghue made his mark taking 4th place in the race in a fantastic time of 35.30. Stuart Cann came agonisingly close to beating 40 minutes with 40.02. Peter Gibson was in good form to win the V65 prize in 43.31. Paul Woan ran a steady 44.10 followed by an encouraging performance from Jamie Jardine in 46.08. Anne Nelson and Evelyn Elkington carried the flag for Red Rose ladies, Anne finishing in 57.20 and Evelyn taking the V75 prize in 63.24.

Good performances were also achieved at the Elswick Express 10 miler with Steven Gore finishing in 1:12:23 and Peter Gibson 1:16:48.

The only member to do a PB at Preston Parkrun this weekend was ……  Ben Donoghue. Finishing first in 17.49 smashed his previous best by 25 seconds. What a week, Ben.!
