The third Cuerden Valley 10k took place last Thursday with 15 Red Rose Runners taking part. Hot conditions didn’t help many runners improve on previous times but Debbie Kirkman won the F40 prize in 46.51 and Carol Douglass was first F65 in 55.59.
At the Wagon and Horses 10 mile race in Lancaster Phil Darwen was the lead Red Roser in a time of 69.32 with Simon Houghton finishing in 74.41. The ladies claimed the success with Jill Jefferson winning the F55 prize in 73.22, Carol Douglass F65 in 87.19 and Julie Coupe’s 78.43 contributed to the ladies team prize success.
Further afield, the North Wales Half Marathon attracted four club members. Sandy beaches and some testing hills made for a tough race. Anthony Murphy ran a steady race finishing in 1.42.07 followed closely by Steven Gore in 1.43.39. Debbie Kirkman and Cliff Utting finished together in 1.53.49.
Two new members ran the Preston Parkrun. Bev Hewitson recorded a PB of 28.00 whilst Richard Maughan ran a respectable 21.48.
