Jill and Dave Pick Up Prizes at Great Cumbrian Run

RRRR travelled widely this weekend. The latest Championship run was the Great Cumbrian Half Marathon where a team of 14 made their mark. Ben Donoghue ran a superb 1.19.30 for 7th place in a race of over 1000 runners. Mark Billington ran a strong race with a finishing time of 1.29.37 whilst pulling Stuart Cann around for a PB of 1.31.34. Anthony Murphy continues to impress, running 1.34.46 followed by a smooth running Dave Hooton taking the V60 prize in 1.36.04. Jill Jefferson led the ladies home with an excellent V50 winning time of 1.38.03.

Janine Needham impressed with a 1.40.26. Barry Wheeler held off a challenge from Dave Maudsley with a time of 1.41.24, Dave finishing in 1.42.24. Phil Davidson ran a steady 1.44.32 followed by a good performance from Frank Nightingale in 1.47.15.

Margaret Lupton finished strongly in 1.47.51 with Richard Lodge coming in 1.52.12. Ever present Allan Howard, ran a steady 2.06.26. By all accounts a fantastic day out for everyone.

Nine Red Rose took on the Chester Marathon. In spite of missing the start Duncan Anderson still managed a brilliant 27th place in a time of 2.48.32. Also missing the start, Mark Billington and Steven Gore paced each other for the first half in a time of 1.42.02 before Mark’s consistency put space between them. Both achieved excellent times, Mark in a time of 3.26.53 and Steve in 3.36.01. The results show the Red Rose runners paced their runs brilliantly, beginning steadily before working their way through the field.  A good example of this came from Michael Pate who moved consistently through the field after the first 10k finishing inside 4 hours in 3.55.38.

Debbie Kirkman partnered Cliff Utting to a time just outside the 4 hour mark, (4.03.24) whilst fantastic efforts from Tony Smith (5.02.33) and Colin Manning (5.25.06) completed the team.

At the scenic Kielder Forest Marathon Shane Cliffe was pleased with his latest training stage of his ‘10 in 10’ challenge with a time of 3.42.38.

Parkrun continues to help runners with John Plowman getting a PB at Cuerden Valley in a time of 27.54 and Bev Hewitson knocking 2 minutes off her time to run 25.41.
