At the Preston 10 mile held over a two lap course from Hutton Grammar School, Jill Jefferson ran away with the F55 prize in a brilliant time of 71.47 continuing to dominate most of her races this year. Janine Needham was second Red Rose lady home in 73.29. Margaret Lupton ran another excellent race with a time of 78.59 and Lucy Lodge was third U18 in a time of 87.49. Debbie Porter came in under the 90 minute barrier in 89.14 followed by Nicola Machin in 93.08 and Janet Saynor in 1.59.15.
In the Men’s race Joe Swarbrick (63.48) came home first just ahead of Ken Addison (63.59) after a tough second lap. Phil Darwen ran well for a 65.03 time and a great run from Richard Oakley in 65.59 gave him a well deserved second place in the V60 class. A string of PB’s followed with Mark Billington posting 66.51, Stuart Cann 67.43 and a deliriously happy Steve Gore with 69.08, urged on by Shane Cliffe who finished in 69.18.
Simon Houghton ran a steady consistent race to finish in 70.40 followed by Richard Maughan in 71.24. John Wiseman celebrated Movember with a time of 75.12 with other good performances from Richard Thompson (81.38) Luke Bosman (83.11), Richard Lodge (84,38) and George Fletcher (86.53) in third V65 place.
Andrew Ashcroft and Steve Bladon ran the Leeds Abbey Dash 10K with over 12,000 other runners, with Andrew finishing in a very good time of 68.57 and Steve getting a PB of 40:28.
At the Cuerden Valley Parkrun three RR were rewarded with PB’s. Cliff Utting 23.29, Paula Plowman 26.34 and Janet Saynor 36.34.
