Plenty of PBs at Pilling 10k

RR. runners went in search of flat courses this weekend and happened upon the Pilling 10k and the Windmill 10k. At Pilling, Ben Donoghue was 5th out of a start of 62 runners. His time of 35.24 will remind the top local runners that he’s in great form.  Stuart Cann looked to this race as another chance to beat 40 minutes. His time of 39.45 and 16th place confirms his improvement in form. David Wilkinson had an excellent run with a time of 42.33 with Debbie Kirkman winning plenty of ‘booty’ with a time of 43.13 as second lady home. Carol Douglass F65, ran another good time of 50.39. Debbie Porter continues to improve with a time of 52.31 whilst Pita Oates (59.57) and Wendy Ward (60.12) ran hard to break the hour. Joanne Malcolmson had Ann Donoghue for company and they crossed the line together in 66.02

The Windmill was described as a nice flat fast course being one lap of the Windmill 1/2 Marathon. Steve Gore lead Mark Billington for the first 6k but Mark was never far away. At 6.5k Mark took the lead and a good battle ensued. His final push for the line kept him ahead. The battle resulted in a PB for both men, Mark finishing in 41.15 and Steve 41.22, knocking more than 45 seconds off his previous best.

Debbie Kirkman, running her second race of the weekend felt the effects by 4 miles but still managed 44.28.

Richard Maughan ran the Preston Parkrun in a new PB of 21.42 and the even more testing course at Cuerden saw two more PB’s,  Steve Bladon 21.22 and John Wiseman 24.55.
