Ultra runner, Dave Brunton of Red Rose Road Runners took on the mighty challenge of the Montane Lakeland 50 mile race. Battling against the raging temperatures, the constant hill climbs and rocky outcrops Dave covered the 50 mile course in a brilliant 12.57.43.
In another quiet week for races Steve Gore improved his Cuerden Valley Parkrun time with 21.20. At the final Welcome Tavern 5k series Ben and Joe Donoghue inspired each other with excellent times. Ben finished 10th overall in 17.37 with Joe breaking 18 minutes for the first time in 17.47.Joe Swarbrick ran 18.58 to finish as first V55 for the series followed by Steve Whitney in 19.27. Steve Gore ran 20.03 with Richard Maughan not far behind in 20.24. Andrew Stell finished the series as first V40 with more success coming from Sal Cape as the F45 winner, Paula Plowman winning the F50 and Yvonne Johnson taking the F55 prize.
Another fine turnout from Red Rose saw 36 of our runners taking their place in a field of 120.
