Red Rose Runners competed in the Lancaster Castle Half and 10k races. Jose Pinon Shaw finished 5th in the Half in an excellent 1.26.59 to be 2nd V45. Janine Needham matched his efforts with 30th place in 1.40.45 to finish as F35 winner. In the 10K Steve Bladon returned to racing after injury to be first RR in 46.03 followed by Ian Wharton in 48.32. Anneke Crosby was pleased to be F45 winner in 50.59 and glut of PB’s was achieved by Aneese Shaikh (55.06), Vicky Gore (57.52), Louise Davitt (65.40) and Carol Heaton (66.16).
At the New Balance English Half Marathon Anthony Durkin improved his PB by 4 minutes to finish in a brilliant time of 1.24.19 and new member Nina Colquhoun took on the distance for the first time running 2.38.
At the Pilling 10k Carol Douglass ran 49.22 to be F65 winner, Shane Cliffe completed the run in 51.34 and Joan Gouldthorpe finished as first F60 in 52.16.
Debbie Porter, Pita Oates and Paula Plowman took part in the attractive sounding Yarrow River 10K Trail race but results are not yet available.
Personal Bests for Preston 5k Parkrun were achieved by Chris Brown 20.37, Richard Maughan 20.57, Stephen Robertson 22.45 and Debbie Porter 25.21.
In the recent Inter Club series, Ken Addison, Joe Swarbrick, Stuart Cann, Steve Whitney, Frank Nightingale and Dave Hooton made up the team which narrowly beat the Preston Harriers to take the title of Vet 50 champions.
