The Lytham Fire Station 10 mile race was the third Championship run of the season for Red Rose. With 35 runners they were a major presence. Ben Donoghue showed some of his best form with a time of 62.20 to be 2nd M35 and 1st in the Lancs Championship, with Jose Pinon Shaw(63.22) just getting to the line in front of Alan Jolly(63.42) both with great times. Stuart Cann took the 3rd V50 place in a time of 65.03 also winning the Lancs Championship V50 prize. With 10 miles being an infrequent distance for many new runners there were plenty of PB’s and benchmark times recorded. Jill Jefferson took 3rd F55 place in 75.01, Paula Plowman 3rd F50 in 81.20, Carol Douglass 1st F65 in 82.48 and Joan Gouldthorpe 2nd F60 in 90.00. At Preston Parkrun another PB for Dan Hughes saw him bring his time down to 18.18. Other PB’s were recorded by David Raynor 21.33, Tina Carr 26.27, and Andrea Davison 31.46. At Cuerden Valley, even more PB’s were achieved. Finty Royle was first female with a time of 21.23. Mark McCrea broke 23 minutes (22.55), John Wiseman 23.21, Lee Burton 27.44, Alice Lodge 27.59, Michael Hogarth 28.51, Louise Walsh 32.25 and Sarah Haslan 33.02.

Vicky Gore, Megan Gore, Rich Ward and Eric Ward all ran Ormskirk parkrun at the weekend for another spot of parkrun tourism. The two major results of note were from Vicky and Eric as both of them got a new 5k PB. Vicky finished in 27:08 and this is both a 5k and parkrun PB. Eric finished in 36:34 knocking some 3:23 off his previous PB. Megan Gore finished strongly finishing in 36.17.

Michael Rushe continued his London preparation with a half marathon at the Silverstone race track. Although conditions were cold and breezy and not too scenic ,he finally cracked 90 minutes with a time of 1.29.02.
