Weekly Roundup 6th April 2015

The Good Friday, Caldervale 10 mile is always a good test at this time of the year. Red Rose, Andrew Christie ran an excellent time of 68.14 to be 27th overall. Jill Jefferson was close to her best again and came in 7th Lady and first in her age category in a time of 76.13. Carol Douglass also won her age group in a time of 88.17. Neil Whatton ran a steady 77.50 and Steve Worswick completed the team with a time of 89.41.

Parkrun news starts in Australia this week. Ken Addison was in Adelaide to meet the Torrens Parkrunners. The mildly undulating course was ideal for Ken and a time of 18.40 ensured he is now the course record holder for his age group. Closer to home, the St Helen’s event attracted a Red Rose contingent. The quick course gave Phil Davidson the chance to knock 27 seconds off his previous best accompanied by Steve Gore. Wendy Ward ran a PB of 28.17 and won a chocolate bunny! Richard Ward ran with son, Eric in a time of 42.22.

Red Rose presence at the Cuerden Valley is a real strength for this event. Apart from the excellent organisation and marshalling there were five more PB performances. John Naylor 21.17, Ian Wharton 23.14, Anees Shaikh 26.43, Louise Walsh 31.37 and Carol Heaton 32.15.
