A brilliant run by Red Rose Debbie Porter saw her conquer the Lakeland 50 miler with 10,000ft of ascent finishing in 15:21:08, at about 2am in the morning.

She said “It was a fantastic event which I really enjoyed and still felt strong at Ambleside (34 mile mark), met some lovely people on route (100 and 50 mile runners) and the volunteers at checkpoints were amazing. Experienced Dave Brunton also took on the event for the fourth time with an exceptional time of 11.26.00.

At the North Wales Half Marathon in Conwy we had eight runners. Dan Hughes ran a fantastic time of 1.28.02 to be 7th overall. The course started and finished with a beach run before tackling a long, long climb from mile 5 to 9 up the mountain with the 750 ft descent only taking a mile. Other excellent performances came from Dave Raynor 1.46.54, Sarah Hall 1.58.26, Tony Murphy 2.05.03, Vicky Gore 2.27, Simon Kirkman 2.29.09, Wendy Ward 2.42.25, Ramona Mulligan 3.18.06.

Also in Wales, Ruth Travis took on a brand new race. The Snowdonia Trail Marathon was a mixture of running, scrambling and rock climbing to reach the top of Snowdon. Ruth finished the brutal course in 7.21.15.

The classic Hendon Brook race over 13.5 miles was yet another tough race this weekend. The undulating course is relentless and conditions only made it harder. Stuart Cann completed the race in 1.49.58 with Barry Wheeler and Ben Donoghue running together finishing in 1.53.03. Rob Mather completed the team in 2.03.33.

The JWK Morecambe Half saw Karl Hodgson completing his 207th run of the year with a PB of 1.25.12 to take 6th place overall. Pete Battersby was 39th in 1.42.22 and Kelly Day ran well for a time of 2.17.51.

At the Lancaster 5k John Shepherd showed continued progress with a fine 18.00 to be 2nd V50. Mark Billington ran well in 20.33 and Andrew Baxendale was home in 24.02.
