There was loads of RRRR running action in the past week.
At the last of the Lancaster 5k series on a course set up for fast times, Mark Billington ran a fine 19.37 with Nicola Bentley 31.37 and Gina Biggs 34.52.
The Mid Lancashire Cross Country season kicked off early this year with a true test at Astley Park, Chorley. There was plenty of mud and varied terrain to keep everybody happy. Red Rose had 48 runners there.
The U13 girls Alice Lodge and Jessica Woods ran well with times of 13.17 and 16.12.
In the ladies event Janine Needham led the team of 24 home in 24th place.
The ladies over 55 team carried on last years winning ways with Joan Gouldthorpe, Lynn Melvin and Jenny Fairclough doing their bit.
The 22 men were headed by new v50 Alan Jolly in 79th place.

The big annual Run Preston 5 and 10k events were held in fine weather on Sunday morning.
RRRR had 6 competing in the 5k. Steve Blaydon, starting to find his form again after injury, was first home and 1st v40 in 19.37. Sophie Hill 25.28, Alice Lodge 29.08, Nicola Bentley 32.31, Chris Brown 35.27 and Abigail Brown 35.26 also completed the lap down to Avenham.
In the 10k RRRR’s had a host of competitors. The results are still provisional but another excellent run from Ciaron Roddy saw him finish in 11th place with a time of 36.50. Other significant finishers were, Ken Addison 22nd 1st v55 38.53, Alan Jolly 27th 1st v50 39.26, Ray Taylor 101st 1st V65 over the line in 44.34 (second on chip time), Louise Barrett our first lady runner 196th 47.58, Paula Plowman 271st 1st lady v50, Carol Douglas 339th 1st lady v65 51.40, and Jenny Fairclough 589th 1st lady v55 57.54. Apologies to anybody missed off but the results were only provisional when the report was compiled.
Even with the big events on over the weekend, the club still had over 40 parkrunners out on Saturday morning.
Leading the way at Cuerden Valley were Karl Hodgson for the men and Ruth Travis for the ladies in times of 19.00 and 24.51. While Dave Maudsley travelled to York 99th in 22.34, John Minton took on the Wythenshawe course, 127th 26.55 and Dave Brunton ran at Burnley going sub 20 with 19.43.
