for those that don’t know me I go under several guises Stuart (Sunday name) Stu . FatherCann .’cookie monster’ ‘The experienced one’ or even ‘hey you’ will suffice If you train with us on a Thursday night you will know me as the one with the big gob and more than likely you’ll have heard one of my pep talks and even one of my tellings off. I normally do the shouting thing before we set off
I’ve been on the committee for a few years now and also consider myself an active member of the club attending most races on the calendar I like to think of myself as a bit of a fell runner and you’ll find my name on the fell champion trophy’s (old man category’s) as well as the road ones (also old man category’s)Also a keen member of the cross country squad I consider it a sin to race without a red rose vest on (exception being parkruns)
WHATS MY ROLE ON THE COMMITTEE
I don’t hold a titled role I am only a mere mortal known as a general committee member which entails going to monthly meetings keeping things smoothly running. I do occasionally have ideas which go before the rest of the team as we have to be Democratic on any things regarding members and the club and have a vote
I am our interclub representative which means going to their meetings and standing our corner and some times more voting
One task I take on is the annual Christmas party organising which can Be a little stressful until a few beers on the night then it all seems worthwhile
Also coach party organising for our away days (spot the party theme)
WHY DID I JOIN RED ROSE
To save two pounds a race but then I discovered Thursday nights and jumped right in there
WHAT DO I GIVE TO THE CLUB
I like to think of myself as a leading veteran keeping us up there in the standings amongst the other clubs but think a big part I play is encouraging others be it training or at races
WHAT DO I TAKE FROM THE CLUB
MOTIVATION with a capital M not being part of a group would seem a little pointless
IN BRIEF
I’ve made many good friends in this club and won silverware with it the best one being runners runner of the year We are now getting faster and faster as a club and bigger and bigger. long may it continue its superb to see some of the new younger members making the top ten at races but still the biggest buzz is our large turnouts and togetherness.
