It was the inaugural Rivington 10 mile trail race on Sunday 24th April at 10am, there was a slight breeze and a bit of a chill in the air with 205 runners anxiously waiting. The start included 12 members of Red Rose Road Runners. After a brief introduction, the race was underway and all competitors were soon warmed up and into their stride. The race started at the Bowling Green at Rivington and headed out following Anglezarke Reservoir to White Coppice, it followed the path to Wheelton Plantation after which it took a sharp right towards Great Hill following the route round back down to White Coppice, Anglezarke and the finish line. Everyone seemed to be in agreement that this was a great race. Maybe it could be included in next year’s calendar? Red Rose results are as follows. Mark McCrea 1:22:16, Philip Davidson 1:22:32, Tarren Wolstencroft 1:27:52, First Lady was Alison Parkinson 1:36:42 followed by Margaret Lupton 1:40:30, Debbie Porter 1:41:13, Ruth Travis 1:43:19, Vicky Gore 1:44:35, Alison Mercer 1:50:22, Catherine Karn and Sue Tonge both 1:54:36 and Sarah Haslam 2:00:22.
