The feature event for Red Rose Road Runners this week was the Blacksticks Blue 10K race at Whitechapel which was one of the 8 races featured in the annual club championship competition.
68 club members completed the race with many fine performances on a hot Sunday morning.
First home for the club was Simon Croft in 6th place with a good time for this course, 38.36. The only other Red Roser to break 40 was Duncan Anderson in 7th with 38.56.
The first Red Rose lady was Janine Needham 4th lady overall in 45.28 with Jill Jefferson close behind 5th lady 46.01.
The club had several age category winners, for the ladies, Debbie Porter V45 55.34, Davina Bowling V65 81.30, Carol Douglass V70 56.15 and the men had Jose Pinon Shaw V45 40.17, Ken Addison V60 42.09 and George Fletcher V70 60.51.

In the Leeds Half Marathon Janet Tolson ran 1.58.32 for 3rd V60 lady and Margaret Lupton ran 2.05.51.
At the Pinshaw Fell race captains Pite Oates and Mark McCrea enjoyed the up and down route. Pita finished 66th lady in 55.31 and Mark was 65th man in 40.40.
In the 1st race of the Astley Park series run by Chorley Dave and Janet Tolson had a family outing finishing in 43rd and 89th with times of 31.35 and 36.48
A short trip to the south Lakes was in order for a number of RRRR on Saturday for the Stavely Trail races. 6 competed in the 10k, Ian Waddington 67.00, Lisa Bolton 68.03, Vicky Gore 67.32, Jenny Bradley 85.51, Emma Johnson 85.49 and Kate Clipston also 85.51. taking on the longer race at 17k were 9 more runners John Wiseman 1.54.04, Claire Shaw 2.03.02, Margaret Lupton 2.07.08, Austin Trelfa 2.22.53, David Watson 2.22.54, Jim McClean 2.28.28, Wendy Ward 2.29.08, Josephine Walsh 2.32.07 and Ramona Mulligan 3.21.28. Finally we had one taking on the Challenge event, Dave Raynor who ran a fine time of 1.40.53.
In the free Saturday morning parkrun events Red Rose once again had runners competing around the country and beyond. Joe Swarbrick finished 1st in a new V60 course record of 19.06 in the Enniskillen event,while Catherine Newton ran at the Lonehill event in South Africa!
