Another busy week of running for the Red Rose Club.
For a bit of variety we had 4 clubmates taking part in the Helwith Bridge Duathlon. This event involved 2 four mile runs with a 23 mile cycle tucked in the middle.
Ryan Bearsdworth had a great race finishing 9th and 1st v55 in 2 hours 1 minute and 43 seconds. Frank Nightingale 2 20 50, Stuart Cann 2 23 48, and Jon Wright 2 29 28 were the clubs other finishers.
Long distance specialist John Naylor completed yet another marathon. This time it was Leicester. He was very pleased to achieve a personal best improving 5 minutes to 3 hours 20 mins.
Closer to home were the Fairclough 5 at Thornton and the Standish Hall Trail race.
In the Standish race Duncan Anderson was 3rd in 38.13, Ben Donoghue 18th 41 59, David Parkinson 1st v50 20th 42.30, Barry Wheeler 25th 43.27, Barry was disappointed with the lack of mud on the trail but this allowed him to beat his previous best here by 3 minutes. These 4 won the team prize. Alison Parkinson ran 55 57 and David Anson was 1st v70 in 69.32.
At the Fairclough 5 race Alex Venables returned to form in 19th place 31.21. Gary Corcoran 29th, Mike Hall 33rd 34.14, John Wiseman 55th 38.17, Debbie Porter 80th 42.16, Alison Mercer 88th 43.44, Davina Bowling 93rd 44.42, Shane Collins 95th 45 08 and Sandra Rolston 118th 50 .06 made up the RRRR competing.
