The high profile local race, the Wesham 10k attracted a large field with a good turnout from Red Rose. David Parkinson was in great form running a new personal best for his new club, taking 2nd place in the V50 category with a time of 37.33. Paul Duffell was also quick over the slightly hazardous conditions with a time of 38.01. Success in the age categories also came with great runs from Ray Taylor, 43.07,V65 and Jill Jefferson 44.10, F55.

The Run for Rory 5k was well attended by 108 runners, including 22 from Red Rose . Alex Venables was placed third in a time of 18.27 with new member Warren Crook in 13th in a time of 19.45. Sandra Rolston took the F55 prize in 30.23.

At the David Staff Memorial Fell race, Darwen Mark McCrea covered the 5.1 mile course up to Darwen Tower and surrounding moorland tracks in 37.39. Colin Manning achieved his aim of beating the hour with a time of 58.59 and Sarah Haslam had a good run in 60.38. A team of four Red Rosers took part in the Rossendale Lee Mill Fell Relay. John Naylor took the first leg in a time of 1.12.08, Gareth Bell took over and quickened the pace for a time of 1.04.22 before handing over to Ben Donoghue who went even quicker coming home in 1.01.35. Andrew Christie took the final leg finishing in 1.04.39. Their total time of 4.22.39 placed them 55th out of 93 teams.

Ciaron Roddy ran a great time of 17.46 to come first at the Preston Parkrun.

There was a big turn out for the latest Cross Country event at Liverpool. It was a highly competitive event. Red rose produced some excellent performances. We had three runners in the top 100 male finishers. Dan Hughes finished the 9.8 km course in 36.45 in 65th place, Duncan Anderson was 70th in 37.12 and James Simon was 76thin 37.33. Sam Harrison finished in 38.59. Ken Addison was comfortably 2nd V60 in 39.38 with Andrew Christie completing the Men’s ‘A’ team with a time of 40.00 we took 12th team place. The Women’s team made up of Nicola Hughes, 38.35 Alison Parkinson39.57 and Debbie Porter 42.47 were 21st team . The ‘B’ team comprised of Pita Oates 45.11, Michelle Jolly 45.23 and Alison Mercer 45.38 finishing as the 28thteam.
