The Guy’s 10 mile at Bilsborrow was held this weekend with a great turnout from Red Rose. David Parkinson had a storming run taking the V50 prize in a time of 63.59. Alison Parkinson led the Red Rose ladies home in 82.55.Liam Hooton finished in 73.13 ahead of Andy Martin in 73.54 and his dad Dave in 74.39. Phil Butler had a steady run round in 79.40. Another close race within the race featured Michael Coupland in 85.06, Lee Burton in 85.09 and Gareth Fairey in 85.37. Lynn Melvin had a good run finishing in 88.00 accompanied by Andy Speer in 88.01. Mary Conway excelled herself with a performance which bettered her best times at 5K , 10K and 10 miles with a time of 94.03. Other results: Wayne Hope 90.21, John Wiseman 90.25, Alison Mercer 91.42, Phil Nelson 92.07, Michael Jeffryes 92.38, Karen Clark 1.43.38. Sharon Birkbeck 1.44.23, Helen Orsen 1.46.34, Chris Clark 1.55.56, Paula Cherry 1.57.01, Samantha Walker 1.59.32.

A prize of a 1lb Matthew Walker Christmas Pudding was the reward for completing the Langdale Christmas Pudding 10k. Mark Willett finished in 44.28 and Louise Walsh completed it in 65.15.

Ken Addison favoured a quiet run at Marl Pits, Roseendale over the 4.2 mile cross country course. A finishing time of 37.35 brought him home as the first V60 by a 5 minute margin. The tough course also saw Ben Donoghue close behind in 37.51 and Barry Wheeler in 38.27.

Davina Bowling completed her 100th Parkrun at Preston in a time of 27.07 amid a sea of cakes and Stuart Cann , 19.25 and Amanda Berry 29.48 achieved new PB’s. At Cuerden Valley, Red Rose were out in force with a showing of 43 out of the field of 136. Only one achieved a PB and that was Lucie Clipston in 28.20.
