The final fixture of the Cross Country season was held at a very wet and muddy Leigh Sports Village. Finty Royle capped a great season with 3rd place and will now represent Lancashire at the UK Championships. Ken Addison and Joan Gouldthorpe have won their age groups this season and on top of that individual success, the ladies V55 have finished 3rd, the Men’s A and vet 40 both finished second in division 2 and have been promoted to the 1 division. The Men’s vet 50 also finished second.
Mark Midgley went to the very heart of Wales to take part in the gruelling Rhayader 20 coming away with a great performance and a time of 2hr 32 mins.
Ann Donoghue went ‘home’ to Stranraer to take part in the half marathon and Alex Venables and Gareth Fairey took on the strenuous Ron Hill 10k in Accrington. Alex finished in 38.50 in 15th place with Gareth completing in 55.47.
The Lancaster 5K saw 10 Red Rose competing with Mark Willet 7th in 19.44 and Ian Wharton 12th in 21.41. An excellent run from Kate Clipston saw her finish in 15th place in 22.02. Once again teamwork worked for Red Rose. In 17th Damien Clapham ran 24.57, in 18th Anees Shaikh finished in 25.35, Laura Houghton 19th in 25.56 and Robert Brooks Taylor 20th in 25.57. Steve Taylor ran well to finish in 27.06 followed by Debbie Porter 27.22 and Jenny Bradley 27.54.
In the 10k event both our runners took their age group prizes with Jill Jefferson 1st F55 in 44.56 and Carol Douglass 1st F70 in 52.04.
Success at the Parkrun events came from Helen Greenhalgh who ran a new PB by nearly 2 minutes for 26.07, Lisa Bolton celebrated being first lady home in a time of 23.30 with Kerry Dewhurst 26.47, and Michelle Livesey 27.18.
