In the wake of the Manchester bomb, Kris Lowe, Andrew Christie 18:52, Sam Harrison 19:14, Philip Davidson 20:35, Scott Jackson 20:42 and Liam Hooton 21:32 took an emotional journey to Longford Park, Stretford, Manchester to complete the inaugural reverse running of the two lap parkrun course from Trafford AC stadium.

Following the traditional announcements of ‘Do we have any first timers/Tourists amongst us’, a minutes applause was observed by the 380 attendees in memory of the 22 victims of Monday’s Manchester concert bombing.

Regular Stretford parkrun participants voted unanimously on Facebook in favour of nurkrap, designed to ease congestion for the regular 500 partakers, doubtlessly down in numbers this week due to the Great Manchester Run on Sunday.

Sam and Philip both recorded parkrun PBs for the current year whilst Scott improved his parkrun PB by a full 42 seconds from his 21:24 recorded at Preston parkrun on 18th March, made all the more impressive as both himself and Kris had only completed the hilly Burnley Lions 10k some 13 hours earlier.

Yellow ribbons and pick n’ mix were provided before and after by Kris Lowe. Well Done lads. #runformanchester
