At the second Badger Trail 10k Duncan Anderson (37.42) fought off Ciaran Roddy (37.45) in a thrilling finish for second and third place. In 9th place Paul Duffell ran a time of 42.41 to be our third runner securing first Men’s team.
Ann Cleave was 10th lady and first F55 in a time of 52.17. Pauline Moorcroft was second F55 in 55.33 and Alison Parkinson was 2nd F50 in 54.36 helping to claim the Ladies Team prize. Sue Tonge took the F60 prize in 59.14 and Joan Gouldthorpe finished in 60.24 to be first F65.
The Caldervale 4mile Supper Run saw Stephen Walker finish in 30.15, Michael Hall 32.35 and Richard Chippendale 32.59. Sandra Rolston took the F55 prize in 38.07 and Arthur Green first V70 in 41.48.
Wayne Sharples made an appearance at the Milton Keynes Parkrun and claimed a PB with a great time of 22.19. At Preston a large field of 311 saw eight PB’s for Red Rose. Liam Hooton 20.48, Neil Whatton 22.18, Stephen Walker 23.59, Anees Shaikh 26.57, Amanda Cutler 28.34, Jennifer Bradley 29.41, Andy Clipston 33.28 and Lexie Colquhoun 43.25.
The fifth Inter Club race of the season was hosted by Wesham Road Runners. A 4.5 mile course around the BNFL site at Lea Town was keenly contested by nearly 400 runners. Once again Red Rose was a strong presence. The outstanding performance came from Carla Davis who flew off from the gun and ran a superb time of 27.29 to be first lady home. In the Open race the Red Rose team placed third with the Vets team only managing 4th place. More success came from the reliable V50 and V60 teams who once again took first place. The Ladies teams also had a good night gaining 3rd place in both the open category and the F40 race. Thanks to the Wesham club for an excellent event and great hospitality at the buffet held at Wesham Cricket Club. Provisional results on the Inter Club series facebook page.
A good show of Red Rose competed at the Windmill Half with Jose Pinon Shaw in good form, finishing 13th in 1.25.43 with a strong performance from Paul Mounsey in 21st place in 1.27.53. Pauline Moorcroft proved to be our best female runner with an excellent time of 1.49.35 and Glynis Leo easily beating the 2 hour mark in 1.53.31. Our other runners were Stephen Murphy 1.48.22, Michael Coupland 1.49.16, Richard Hope 2.00.27, Rob Mac Donald 2.05.51, Nicola Patterson and Wendy Rogerson 2.14.15, Helen Greenhalgh 2.15.18, Sharon Birkbeck 2.21.18,Joanna Dobson and Faisal Ali 2.25.18.
Richard Maughan was our lone runner at the Pendle Running Festival Half Marathon finishing in 5th place over a gruelling course with a time of 1.33.26. The Elswick 10 mile also took place in difficult weather conditions with Michael Hall running 71.35 and Joan Gouldthorpe home in 1.31.15.
There were 3 of us at the Pendel 5 mile trail on the Sunday as well with our Sarah Chippendale taking second female.
