The Preston 10 mile race over a two lap course starting from Hutton Grammar School saw Duncan Anderson break the hour with a time of 58.16. Richard Maughan ran 63.44 with Ken Addison coming out on top of a very competitive Vet 60 category with a great time of 64.41. Ann Cleave was our first lady home taking 2nd place in the F55 group in an impressive time of 77.32. Ruth Travis was our second lady in 79.23 and Claire Short 3rd in 88.18. At the 13 Arches Half a huge turnout from Red Rose celebrated a 4thplace for Daniel Hughes with a time of 1.22.52, Stuart Cann 5th V50 in 1.34.42 and Scott Jackson 1.45.24. Nicola Hughes ran 1.49.22 to lead the ladies team home , Anneke Crosby was 5th F50 in 1.55.04 and Pauline Moorcroft was second F55 in 1.55.05. The Podium 5k is a part of the Tour of Pendle series. Simon Croft competed in the ‘A’ race and met some stiff opposition. His great time of 16.24 wasn’t good enough for a top 50 place. Meanwhile in the ‘B’ race Sarah Chippendale ran a great time of 20.48, Steve Taylor ran 22.12, Laura Houghton 22.56 and Natalie Moore 24.13.
At the Conwy Half Marathon 2564 runners ran this beautiful challenging course. Ben Smithers ran 1.46.31 narrowly ahead of David Bayliss in 1.49.42. Samantha Edwards ran really well finishing in 1.52.52. Lee Lawrenson and Louise McKenna finished well in 2.07.15 followe by Gary Turner in 2.08.07. Gareth Fairey took 2.16.40, Lucy Turner 2.23.00 and Pita Oates 2.40.42.
At the Chorley Fire 10k we had 15 runners led home by Phil Darwen in 39.53. Natalie Lewis was our leading lady in 49.17.
