At the Lancaster Half Simon Croft had a great run to win the race in an amazing time of 1.14.11 more than a minute ahead of second place. Ben Smithers ran well for a time of 1.43.23 followed by Gareth Fairey in 2.16.27.
With the current number of possible North West parkruns standing at 53 in total, Philip Davidson moved closer to becoming a NW parkrun regionnaire. Philip completed his 50th NW region, 67th Tourist and 137th parkrun at Nobles parkrun, Nobles Park, Douglas, Isle of Man. His 10th place finish in 22:15 set a new VM55-59 course record as Preston was proudly represented amongst the 84 runners who completed the challenging course in the low morning sun.
The classic ‘Through the Villages’ course starting in Wheelton is always a great race. Over the distance of 8.45 miles, David Parkinson finished as 3rd M50 in 56.17 with Stuart Cann in pursuit as 4th M50 in 57.26. Phil Darwen broke the hour with 59.03. Chris Corrigan ran a respectable 65.05 with Ann Cleave our most successful finisher taking 2nd F55 in 68.47. Jon Royle 70.47, Ruth Travis 75.33, Jason Spear 78.09 completed our line- up.
Out on the fells, 9 Red Rose runners tackled the Shepherd’s Skyline race over a 10k distance and 350 metres of climb. Carla Davies came home in 6th place in the Ladies section in 57.57.03. Frank Nightingale ran 62.47, Alison Mercer 88.12. Red Rose pairings of Lynn Melvin 81.04, Emily Sinkinson 81.13, Sal Cape and Mary Conway 100.56 and Jenny Fairclough and Sue Austin 104.19.
Paula and John Plowman and Ben Donoghue supported by Ann Donoghue had to contend with very hot conditions at the Media Fuerteventura Dunes Half . The course was very tough, over soft sand. Ben ran 2hr 1 min with John and Paula just over 3 hours.
