A big thank you to all those who brought items for the Club’s charity week collection.
If there are items you have set aside but forgot to bring along last week then bring them to your next training night and we will hold them over until after the New Year as the Centre is closed for donations until then.
The Foxton Centre is a remarkable place taking on the tough challenge of improving the lives of people trapped in poverty and deprivation. The items you gave will help feed people, including children who would otherwise go hungry over the holiday without the benefit of a school meal.
The CEO, Jeff Marsh, took the time to brief us on the work of the Centre.
Although they do not offer overnight accommodation under normal circumstances, when the temperature approaches zero they offer their floor space to people who would otherwise sleep rough in Preston. In the morning there is a shower, fresh clothing and a hot breakfast.
