The New Year began with the Central Lancashire Half Marathon with some of our runners producing personal best performances. In 25th place Iain Mitchell went well inside 90 minutes with a time of 1.27.38.Steve Murphy began the year well with 1.45.26 and Sam Edwards was our leading lady with a time of 1.50.52. Christopher Hargreaves finished in 1.52.20 with Esther Stanier bringing her PB down to a time of 2.03.41 with James Hughes also starting the year well with a time of 2.05.34.Helen Greenhalgh posted 2.17.06. At the chilly North Lakes Half Richard Hally got his year off to a great start by clearing his 2018 target of 1.40 to finish in a time of 1.35.42.
Others travelled further afield for shorter distances. Simon Croft finished with a great 10k time of 33.12 at Telford and yet was only 10th in his age group, in a high class field. Natalie Moore also ran well being 19th in her age group in a time of 51.35. Nice was the choice destination for the Peter and Marion O’Grady who took on the Promenade Classic 10k and in blustery conditions ran 48.27 and 63.35.
At Preston parkrun Gareth Case ran an impressive 19.00 just 2 seconds off his best time. PB’s were successfully achieved by David Eaves with a time of 28.02 and Toria Callaghan 30.21. At Cuerden Valley two excellent PB’s came from Pete Battersby in 21.52 and Olivia Wiggans with 22.37.
