Red Rose Runners were on their travels looking for races this weekend. A group enjoyed the Bolton Abbey Trail Festival. In the longest race of 20 miles a trio of Ben Donoghue , Paula Plowman and Stuart Cann ran the course together. Paula took 1st F55 in 3.50.28 and Stuart was 1st M50 in 3.50.29.
Wendy Ward won the F45 prize in the 15 mile race in a time of 3.09.10 and Wayne Hope finished as 2nd M55 in 2.57.26. The half marathon distance was favoured by Wendy Rogerson and Nicola Patterson finishing in2.50.40, as well as John Plowman 3.08.55 and Ann Donoghue 3.24.45.
At the Fleetwood Half, Michael Oddie was our first runner in 1.37.59 followed by Sam Edwards in1.39.04 and Ben Smithers in 1.43.29. Sue Brookes finished in 2.04.50. Amanda berry and Davina Bowling finished together in 2.24.29 and Susan Heatley continued half marathon challenge with her 5th race this year in 2.32.20.
James Hughes enjoyed his first attempt at fell racing competing in the Darwen Gala, Catherine Dowdell Memorial Race finishing in 50.54.
The Birchwood 10k has a long history of providing a good chance at achieving PB’s. David Bayliss finished in 47.40 and Kathryn Abbott ran 58.00.
At the Dumfries parkrun, Anneke Crosby flew the Red Rose flag with a great time of 23.35 and 4th in the age grading list. Nearer home, Simon Croft finished in first position at Cuerden Valley with a new PB of 17.35 and at Preston Steve Moon ran his best timeof 21.00 and Alicia Croft improved her time to 25.26.
