Weekly Roundup 25 September 2018

The Loch Ness Marathon was the destination for Ben Smithers this weekend. In spite of a very tough course he came close to his best with a time of 3.28. Cartwheeling across the line, Sam Edwards achieved a massive 40 minute PB with a time of 4.01.15 and Baz Bayliss got a PB by more than 17 minutes with 4.02.25. Faisal Ali completed the team with a time of 6.08.

Gina Biggs completed her 147th and 148th marathons (or ultras) by taking part in the Enigma Toy Event. On Saturday she completed the 50k in 7.53, finishing as second female and the day after ran the marathon in 6.39.

The Blackpool Music 10k took place on Saturday. The results don’t show club affiliation so it would be easy for me to miss someone. Results available on fyldecoastrunners.com.

Mike Hall ran the Abersoch half on Saturday with ex-club member Mike Letwenjuk and their partners. There were pretty good conditions as it wasn’t windy but was raining. It’s a rolling course that ends with a kilometre along the beach, not east as you have to get over quite a few wooden wave breakers. His chip time was 1.32.05 which was 4 mins slower than 2015 but he was pleased with that due to no training and a week long stomach bug.

The Padiham multi terrain 10k saw Phil Davidson finish in 48.35. Yvonne Johnson ran a great time of 57.10 to win the F55 prize. Keith Burrow broke the hour in 57.33. Roger Johnson ran 62.11, Jack Leach 69.29 and Arthur Green 79.58.

At the latest Lakeland Trails event held in Coniston, the 10k event was entered by Paul Fairclough finishing in 66.35, Gail Bristo 75.51. Michelle Livesey and Jackie Brunton ran their first trail race together finishing in 83.36. David Watson ran 91.30.

In the 15k challenge event we had 10 finishers. Dave Raynor 83.13, Doug Bryden 91.15, Austin Trelfa 1.49.58, Cathy Karn 1.53.35, Helen Greenhalgh 2.03.46, Jenny Fairclough, Sue Austin, Amanda Berry and Davina Bowling finished together in 2.10.08, followed by Josephine Walsh in 2.16.18.

In the 15k race Andrew Christie and Christopher Hargreaves both managed top 50 places with times of 1.17.34 and 1.18.41. John Allen was close behind in 1.20.01, followed by Iain Mitchell 1.33.10 and Lorna Taylor 1.40.36.
