This is the time of year when runners face the Longridge 7 in the hope of winning a Christmas Pudding! About 40 Red Rose Runners were hungry enough to accept the challenge. Success came as the club won both Ladies and Men’s team prizes with performances from Sarah Chippendale 51.50, Jill Jefferson 52.44 and Sam Edwards 57.53. The men’s team was Richard Maughan 45.07, David Parkinson 46.10 and Joe Martin 46.33. Jill Jefferson won the F60 prize with a time of 52.44 nearly half an hour faster than her next F60 competitor and two minutes faster than the first M60. Davina Bowling had great run to win the F70 prize. Full results are on fyldecoastrunners.com .

The latest Mid Lancs cross country race was held at Wilson Playing Fields, Hyndburn. Runners enjoyed a mud fest. The Ladies ‘A’ team consisted of Sam Edwards 29.50, Faith Button 32.35 and Joan Gouldthorpe 34.18. The ‘B’ team times were Catherine Silcock 36.13, Sarah Haslam 39.30 and Debbie Porter 56.31.

Joey’s grandad, Warren Crook won the St Catherine’s Santa Dash.

Barry Wheeler, 44.07, led the Men’s team along with Mike Hall 46.20, Gary Corcoran 47.07, Manolo Mendoza 47.29, Lee Quibell 47.30 and Stuart Cann 48.40. A’B’ team was made up of Simon Shaw 49.55, Phil Butler 50.29, ‘1859’, 50.33, Phil Davidson 52.05, Fred Lynch 53.19, Ray Taylor 53.38, Phil Dean 55.57, Ben Smithers 69.41, Faisal Ali 92.46.

Stuart Smith ran the inaugural Lytham Sandta 20K race. The event is a multi-lap (2.5k) which can either be completed solo, or in teams of up to 8 in relay format. It is all off-road with terrain varying between grass, sand-dune, pebble and beach.

At Preston parkrun, New PB’s were achieved by brilliant supporters of the parkrun ethos ,Rob Mather 22.52, John Wiseman 24.24 and Anneke Crosby 24.30. Sandra Davies who is new to parkrun gained her new PB with a time of 34.25.
