Nina Colquhoun took part in one of the San Silvestre races which take place all over Spain leading up to and including New Year’s Eve.
She ran the 5km in Velez-Malaga. It was an event which saw the local community don their fancy dress for this annual race. There was even a group dressed as Mario and Luigi pushing a guy in a go kart around the track in Mario Kart style!
All the people within the bars and restaurants came out to cheer the runners, it was very much a party race.
Nina said,’Although advertised as a 5km the total recorded route came in at 2.5 miles on my Garmin. Not a bad time for me at 28:26 on a course which wasn’t at all flat!’
