Red Rose had 8 runners at the St Valentines 10k in Lancaster. Sam Edwards finished in 46.18 ahead of Ben Smithers in 49.22. V60, Austin Trelfa finished in 53.56, with Steve Taylor also finishing under the hour in 58.59. Kate Clipston ran 61.05, Sandra Rolston 64.15, David Watson 65.17 and Ruth Watkinson 66.05.
The Action for Children 5k held on a flat cycle track in Blackpool saw two good times from Stuart Smith, sub 20 and Michael Oddie 20.37.
A group of Red Rose travelled to the Tatton Park 10k with a promise to leave no one behind. They succeeded and had a great day together. Joydip Majumder finished in 1.15.19 with Julie Longdon finishing her first 10k in 1.16.33. A group of 5, Steve Bulllows Faisal Ali, Dawn McLean, Jim McLean and Jacqueline Winslow then crossed the line together in 1.27.44.
David Raynor was our sole representative at the 11 mile Muddy Shoe race finishing 16th in 1.46.49.
Gina Biggs went off to Milton Keynes to revisit the ‘Quadzilla’ event at Caldecotte Lake. 4 marathons in 4 days. The first day resulted in a PB of 5.15.30. On Day 2 a time of 5.43.33 meant that she had recorded a Double Marathon PB. Her time on Day 3 was 6.05.39 and on Day 4 she ran 6.23.
The latest Mid Lancs cross country event was held in Leigh Sports Village. 11 women and 15 men ran for Red Rose. The women’s race was over a 6k course. Nicola Hughes 22.33, Sam Edwards 23.53,Vicky Ardern 25.03,Janette Raynor 25.32, Paula Plowman 25.41,Faith Button 25.43, Sue Tonge 27.57, Margaret Worbey 28.24, Alison Mercer 29.14 Catherine Karn 29.55. The mens’ race was over 10k with Dan Hughes out in front in 37.47, Manolo Mendoza 41.41, Michel Hall 41.54, Barry Wheeler 42.44, Lee Quibell 42.56, Frank Nightingale 43.49, Stuart Cann 44.46, Fred Lynch 44.52, Simon Shaw 44.55, Phil Butler 45.11, Ray Taylor 48.13, Phil Dean 48.36, Rob Mather 50.27, Anthony Pope 55.33, David Barnes 57.33.
