Eight Red Rosers ventured to Cumbria for the popular 10k Dalemain Trail Race, which takes place mostly within the private grounds of the Dalemain Estate near Lake Ullswater. The scenic route takes place on paths and fields around the estate and opens up to beautiful views, which were enhanced all the more by the lovely weather. In a very competitive field, Team Hughes triumphed with Dan leading the Red Rosers as 4th male overall, just narrowly missing out on a prize in a time of 40.14 and Nicola finishing as 1st lady in 46.13. The other times were Christopher Hargreaves 47.08, Andy Birkbeck 49.50, Iain Mitchell 53.39, Lorna Taylor 1.05.32, and Sarah Haslam and Jenny Fairclough finishing together in 1.14.32. Top Red Rose support was provided by Ruth Travis and Glynis Leo in their car park management and marshalling roles and By Lynn Melvin who kept popping up unexpectedly on parts of the route as a supporter. Badger Hughes wagged his tail enthusiastically and looked on proudly as Nicola received her prize! ‘
