Gareth Bell did the West Pennine Moors ultra marathon. It should have been 30 miles, but with it being self-navigating he did 31.5 miles with 4500 feet of elevation. There was lots of snow, hail, gale force winds and some serious mud. He was unnecessarily disappointed with his time but got in well under the cut off time.
A 6 hour race at Liverpool Hope University saw John Naylor run 39.84 miles to take second place and with the support of Craig Lancaster who ran 28 miles , combined to take the first team prize edging out a team from the ‘100 marathon club’.
Also in Liverpool we had a group at the Landmarks Half Marathon. Good performances in wintry conditions and a headwind in the last 4 miles will ensure runners remember this run for a while.
