‘100 Marathon Club’ runner Gina Biggs excelled herself this weekend by ripping up her PB and posting an amazing time of 4.18.35 at the Brighton Marathon, nearly an hour faster than any of her century of marathons.

A group of Red Rose enjoyed the atmosphere of the Paris Marathon. Lee Lawrenson ran a great time of 3.39.00 followed by Chris Taylor who ran a PB of 3.43.02. Ben Smithers and Chris Corrigan crossed the line in times of 3.54.36 and 3.54.48.Esther Stanier ran her first marathon in a great time of 4.40.08 with Phil Berry close behind in 4.41.51 and Nikki Berry under 5 hours again in 4.55.29. Jonathan Gore recorded 5.13.24 followed by Faisal Ali in 5.19.32.

Starting and finishing at Hawkshead, the 10K Hawkshead Trail Run, 16K Trail Challenge and 16K Trail Races follow circuits along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding peaks of the Coniston Hills, the Langdales and most of the Lakeland fells. All of the routes take in the infamous, mile long, near vertical, killer climb of the "Coffin Trail"! Provisional Lakeland trails results.

Sarah Slater ran the Blackpool Resolution 15k.

The Three Bridges 10k in Lancaster attracted over 400 runners. Blustery conditions met the runners on most parts of the course and a gruelling set of steps surprised first timers. Jill Jefferson won the Vet 60 prize in 43.47 and Carol Douglass took the V70 prize in 51.57. Iain Mitchell ran the Jurassic Coast Ultra event to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation. He was accompanied by Chris Corrigan who had taken part in the ‘Half’ the day before.

Nigel Britton posted a recent best half marathon time of under 1.39 at Lake Maggiore.

The very first Morecambe Prom parkrun took place this weekend with 8 Red Rose participants. Over 260 runners attended. Course records were established with Pete O’Grady V60 with a time of 22.57, David Hooton V65 in 22.43 and Davina Bowling F70 27.39. Other results: Andrew Christie 19.47, Liam Hooton 20.48, Phil Davidson 21.05, Jo Roberts 28.20 Marion O’Grady 28.26.

Preston parkrun saw over 450 runners out for the 5k run. Seven Red Rosers achieved new PB’s, Phil Marsden 17.58, Sam Edwards 21.35, Steve Gibson 22.44,Rachael Robinson 25.04, Karen Smith 29.01, Sarah Watkins 30.56, Christine Watkins 31.57.
