The Lostock Carnival 5K has become a very popular race with many runners seeing it as a PB course. Over 40 Red Rose Runners took part with our first three ladies, Sophie Pilkington (20.14), Janette Rayton (23.06) and Anneke Crosby (23.55) taking the Ladies team prize. Our first four men all broke 20 minutes. Stephen Woodruffe(19.16), Gary Corcoran (19.19), Liam Hooton 19.26 and James Darkin 19.59. Paula Plowman won the F50 prize in 24.15 and Mary Conway won the F60 prize in 29.06. Warren Hoyle has rejoined Red Rose and made a great start with a time of 21.57.Full results on ukroadraces facebook page and later on the ukroadraces results site.

There was a good turnout at the second Badger Trail 10K at Cuerden Valley. Matt Holmes had great run finishing second in 36.50. Other results: Michael Oddie 43.11, Chris Bridge 46.54, Ben Smithers 50.41, Matthew Edgley 51.34, Richard Field 51.40, Chris Hargreaves 51.44, Laura Johnson 53.46, Sian King 58.13, Lisa Semley 60.47, Davina Bowling 61.19, Emily Sinkinson 63.29, Sarah Haslam 66.44, Hannah Clayton 73.18, Gina Biggs 77.58, Steve Bullows 82.33.

Chris Pope was buzzing after the Texas Arlington Firecracker Flight 10k, just to finish, in 30 Celsius was a relief and getting his first ever race shirt plus the medal and silver medal for second in his age group made his day.

Michael Turner was our leading time at the Blackpool 10K in 47.12. Our other runners were Kerry Dewhirst 53.13, Paul Halliwell 57.57, Heather Whelan 57.58, Nicola Millington 57.59, Steve Bullows 77.29, Lauren Hatton 77.56, Jenny Szedler 85.21.

The Hendon Brook 13.5 mile race is part of the Burnley and Pendle series and presents the runners with a very tough course. Philip Marsden was 3rd V45 in 1.37.48. Ben Smithers broke 2 hours with 1.59.52 followed by David Stewart in 2.12.21. Anneke Crosby(2nd F50) Margaret Worbey , James Hughes and Simon Worbey worked as a team finishing in 2.23.59. Judi Ingham ran with Emily Ingham finishing in 2.28.42 followed by David Barnes in 2.33.01.

The latest Grand Prix race was the Bentham Beagles 10K. Simon Croft was in a class of his own with a winning time of 35.08, more than 5 minutes ahead of second place. In an area which provides undulating/hilly courses the runners contended with high temperatures as well. The Ladies team of Janette Rayton 50.14, Sue Brookes 51.43 and Natalie Croft 53.20 took the ladies team prize whilst the men’s team of Simon Croft, Stuart Smith 42.12, and Barry Wheeler 42.42 narrowly missed out to the home team of Bentham Beagles. Michael Oddie was the first V45 in 42.55 and Carol Douglass was first F70 in 54.36. Other results: Chris Bridge 44.05, Steven Moon 44.06, Stuart Cann 44.44, Richard Field 50.49, Rob Mather 50.54, Pete O’Grady 54.00, Pauline Moorcroft 56.01, Kathryn Abbott 56.24, Zoe Cain 57.03, Julie Thorley 57.23, Louise Withnell 58.38, John Wiseman 62.41, Ann Donoghue 62.41, Mike Jeffryes 62.47, Catherine Morris 63.29, Karen Smith 63.44, Lisa Baron 67.01, Davina Bowling 67.01, Amanda Berry 67.01, Marion O’Grady 67.01, Jo Roberts 67.01,Susan Heatley 68.54.

The Catforth 5k was held on Saturday evening. 9 RRRRs turned out. Richard Maughan was 7th male in 18.33, Jill Jefferson was 2nd lady in 20.56 and Paula Stell won her v45 category in 26.19. Other runners results were, James Darkin 20.11, Pete Smith 21.13, Andrew Stell 21.43, Lauren Hatton 32.54, Susan Beardsworth 38.46, Cath Furesz 38.46.

A small number took part in the City of Manchester 10K. Liam Hooton finished in 41.42, Philip Davidson came in as 6th M55 in 43.06. Austin Trelfa finished in 55.40 followed by David Watson (66.57) and Ian Bruce (89.04).

At the Fleetwood parkrun Andrew Christie was our leading runner in an excellent time of 19.19 followed by the Red Rose V55 duo of John Allen and Philip Davidson who claimed the V55 top spots with 20.14 and 21.22.

As 50th birthday celebration, Annie Owens took part in the Windermere Olympic Triathlon with a brilliant swim of 1500 metres in 34 minutes. On the bike she rode 43K in 1.57.26 and finished off with a 10K run in 85 minutes. For good measure she was raising money for an ice machine needed on her hospital ward. Vicky Ardern ran as part of a relay team and really enjoyed the event.
