Well done to all the Red Rose runners who braved the coastal winds of Fleetwood whilst smashing out a half-marathon. Plenty of good competition and supportive pairings saw some excellent times.

Gun times: Greg Atkinson 1.39.23, Ben Smithers 1.44.37, Sam Edwards 1.45.03, Gail Bristo 1.59.47, Mark Wardley 1.59.49, John Wiseman 2.05.23, Steve Pickering 2.11.14 Helen Ormerod- Pateman 2.17.55, Rachel Cook 2.18.39, Davina Bowling 2.21.15, Amanda Berry 2.27.17, Gina Biggs 2.29.49,(acting as 2.30.00 pacer), Lisa Baron 2.33.26, Faisal Ali 2.33.26, Susan Heatley 2.36.40, Ruth Watkinson 2.39.25, Susan Beardsworth 2.54.05, Lauren Hatton 2.54.09.

The latest Inter Club Race was hosted by Chorley in Astley Park. The course is either a favourite or least favourite depending on your liking for hills. Red Rose members were very appreciative of the fine buffet provided by the Chorley club making it an excellent evening for everyone. The stand out performances came from Simon Croft and Matt Holmes who finished in 5th and 6th place in the whole race and Sophie Pilkington and Samantha Edwards who finished in 7th and 9th in the Ladies race. The team positions were as follows: 3rd team overall, The Vets team were 3rd, Ladies team 3rd, F40 team 3rd. Our best result came from the Vet 50 team of David Parkinson, Mike Hall, Steve Woodruffe and Alan Jolly who were placed first in that category. The V60 team were third in their section.

Vicky Ardern completed the Riverside Half Marathon in Lancaster in 1.37.37 finishing as 2nd lady and first in her age category.

Pauline Moorcroft and Louise Withnell competed at the Whitworth trail half marathon. Conditions were tough but they battled and survived the hills the bogs and the mud!!

At the Escrick (Yorks) 10k Trail Race Jill Jefferson was the only RRRR representative in White Rose County. Jill was 4th lady in 44:28 and won V60 prize in a field of 574 runners on a warm and breezy day. A carnival atmosphere prevailed on the village green with all funds going to the village.

We had plenty of runners out at the Run the Lights event. In the 5K Olivia Wiggans was 7th overall in 21.53,also 2nd female and first in her category. Lauren Hatton 32.50, Sandra Davies 33.19, Cath Furesz 34.32, Susan Beardsworth 34.35, Sharon Arts 34.51, Dylan Fox 35.11, Jane Godsland 37.31, Matthew Thorpe 66.06.

The 10k times were Bernie Mitchell 53.47, Shirley Russo 58.48, Jayne Rennie 60.53, Danielle Hayes 61.35, Ian Richards 61.49, Steve Bullows 76.19, Samantha Spencer 76.42, Paul Halliwell 81.53.

At Cuerden Valley Red Rose had their usual high presence and young Archie Finch ran a new PB of 25.03 with Andrew Hall also improving with a time of 30.45. At Preston, PB’s were achieved by Andrea Jenkins in 26.22, and Phil Storey in 29.17.

Jack Cleece ran 18:56 and Abigail Cleece ran a PB of 13:14 at Avenham junior parkrun.

The Tour of Norland Fell Race is now over fifteen years old running over a well established course with the HQ at the excellent new facilities of Copley Cricket Club. We had five runners in a field of 70. Dan Hughes (6th) 42.17, Barry Wheeler 45.51, Frank Nightingale 46.12, Philip Butler 51.08, Nicola Hughes 55.34.
