Richard Ward did his first triathlon this weekend. The middle distance event consists of 1900 metre swim ,90k bike and 21k run. His time was an impressive 7:02:19! The weather conditions were very poor at times. The event, ‘Sundowner’, was based at Allerthorpe Lakeland Park in York. Mac McCormack also took part.

Matt Holmes came 13th out of 2,400 runners at the Wigan 10k in a great new PB of 35.40. Julie Longdon was pleased to be back in action after injury, finishing this race in her 3rd best time.

Philip Davidson was the first V55 in a time of 43.29 at the Run Media City 10K.

A large group of energetic Red Rosers had a camping weekend taking in the Whinlatter parkrun and in one case, Sam Edwards, the Golden Ball 10 miler.

Nearer home PB’s were achieved at Cuerden Valley. Karl Hodgson came in first in 18.14, followed by Pete Battersby 21.26, Neil Healy 26.42, Andrew Hall 28.30, Natalie Barber 28.59, Emily Atkinson 34.19. At Preston Jane Godsland ran 27.25.

A fine example of Red Rose spirit was set by juniors Holly and Daniel Smith marshalling junior parkrun at Avenham park this weekend. Chloe Smith (16:05) and Jack Cleece (15:34) set new PBs and Abigail Cleece achieved her 11th junior parkrun and gained her wristband for running an equivalent of 13.1 miles (half marathon). James Harrison, Daniel Hands and Grace Wells also competed. Well done rosebuds.

Sophie Bell took on the mini-howlers event in the rain and wind. She really embraced the event despite having not done much exercise over the last couple of years due to her asthma. She covered just over 5 miles of hilly, wet and windy conditions with self-nav & maps searching for clues to crack the code. Well done to all the mini-howlers. Red Rose was well represented with the Turners and the Chippendales also out on the moors.

Earlier in the week James Hatton won the Ice Lolly fun run in Bolton.
